Wednesday morning Sand Hill Elementary students, faculty and staff watched as the final building, of three, was demolished to make room for their new state-of-the-art school.

“What an emotional and bittersweet day to see the main building go down, a building that has been the heart of this community for so many generations,” explained Sand Hill Elementary 5th grade teacher Mindy McCartney as she held back tears of joy and sadness. “As this building goes down and a new one goes up, we are thrilled to welcome many generations to come into a fun, safe learning space. Our building may change, but our Cardinal heart and Cardinal Pride remain the same. We are excited for our kiddos and the Sand Hill/Dallas community.”

The new facility will take Waller Corporation of Washington, Pennsylvania, 18 months to construct at an estimated cost of $12,275,800.
