Alyssa Allen’s fourth grade class at Sand Hill Elementary designed and submitted Earth Day posters for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory annual Earth Day Poster Contest. “Invest in Our Planet. What Will You Do?” was this year’s contest theme.

Students from all over submitted posters, but Sand Hill fourth graders took the top two places in their category in the Morgantown, West Virginia area.

Maya Loudermilk received 1st place for her poster “Start Recycling Our Earth” and Cinch Dougherty received 2nd place for his poster “Save the Earth.” The award-winning posters will be on the U.S. Department of Energy’s website and displayed in their headquarters in Washington D.C.
